I had athroscopic surgery on my knee a few weeks ago and when the orthopedic surgeon said that the best therapy is walking, off we went to a quick overnighter to AC. One of the girls we go with was on vacation with her family so it was just the 2 of us this trip, with a little less in the "kitty". The kitty is $50 from each of us that goes for the valet's, chambermaid, tips, etc. with usually a little left over for some Carvel at one of the rest stops on the GSP.
The trip started well with no traffic. We arrived at the Taj Monday at about 12:30 and we didn't expect our room to be ready due to the holiday weekend so we left our bags in the car. Lo and behold we were greeted at the front desk with a smile,a welcome and a room available immediately. I must say this trip each person we encountered at every casino (Showboat, Taj and Borgata) was very personable and I was impressed with the customer service, from valets, waitresses, dealers, front desk people, etc. I was also impressed that this occured after what I'm sure was a busy holiday weekend. What a difference from our last 5 or 6 visits.
We headed over to the Borgata and played for a while before dinner at the Buffet. I didn't take as much money as I normally do, I'm stashing away for Vegas in September. My bankroll was fading fast.
Dinner was great as usual. The soft shell crabs and shrimp were delicious with some new things added since our last visit.
After dinner we took our things up to the room, played at the Taj for a while and with no luck headed over to the Showboat. I only had fives and didn't want to put in a hundred, so I put 3 in the JOB VP machine and on the 3rd hand, I kept a Kc, Ac, and Jc hoping to at least pair up the picture card. I got the ROYAL. It's my first royal of the year and really my first win in the past 6 trips. Maybe the streak was over. We played rapid roulette, which was a lot of fun. a stop at the 3 card poker table was a bust. I stopped at a few machines but nothing to speak of. We were getting tired so we headed back to the Taj to play for a little while. My girlfriend went to the poker room for a few hours and I headed up to bed. We go into the poker room a lot but this time she said most of the players seemed a little rough around the edges and there were a few fights that broke out. She came up about an hour later at around 2am
Up at 6am, down to tables, couldn't get anything. Time to go to machines. I had some nice little hits putting in a 20 cashing out with 200. My 20 "on the way out" went to the Quick Hit's "ATM" and cashed out for 520. Nice way to end our 24 hour qet-a- way.
All in all it was a great little trip and I got a little someting-something to add to my Vegas fund, but what I was most impressed with was how nice it was to be treated like a valued customer and genuine kindness from everyone we encountered. That's what makes me want to return.

Always having fun !
