Ever since the Hilton Beach Boys concert in the summer, Jill has been getting offers from the hotel to return and play and stay overnight. These offers have
been getting more lucrative with each passing month. By the way, this was the opposite of what has been happening with Harrahs owned casinos whose offers have
almost evaporated. For Sunday, Hilton offered Jill money, plus a fleece snap snug blanket, one free buffet, a show and an overnight stay. When I made the
reservations for the show, the Hilton rep actually begged us to stay overnight, but since we are returning to AC tomorrow at the Water Club, we declined.
We arrived at the Hilton at 1 pm. The giveaway was scheduled to run from 12 noon till 8 pm. We really wanted the fleece blanket and not a substitute so we thought 1 pm was sufficiently early to get the blanket. If this was a Ballys giveaway, the item would be gone by now and they would be offering cash instead. But this was the Hilton and there was a HUGE line stretching across the 2nd floor. We joined that line and it was moving quite fast. Within 15 minutes, we took possession of the fleece blanket. Within 1 hour, people were coming up to me asking to exchange my blanket color for theirs. Jill and I picked a reddish color and apparently only much lighter colors were available by then. We kept our selection. Judging by the huge crowds all day, I would say that this promotion had to be successful for them.
Now we were hungry and decided to check out the buffet line. That line was very long, but not nearly as long as the fleece line. However, we decided not to wait and entered the cafe restaurant nearby which had a very small line. Jill asked about whether they would honor the free buffet coupon, and they said "yes"and it would be worth $15. We had very tasty sandwiches and with the $15 off, it was a bargain.
Now comes the gambling. I played the Shake Your Booty nickel machine for about 2 hours. I eventually lost $60 but got lots of play. Jill played her penny Red Baron slots and broke even. Then I joined her and we played penny Suns and Moons. I played my machine for about and hour and a half and broke even, but Jill did real well on hers. She got a bonus round that paid over $120 after 3 retriggers and then kept on winning. She was ahead by $150 when we left the machines to go to the show. The show began at 7 and was a one man comedy show about My Mother is Italian, My father is Jewish. He had some pretty good jokes. We left a little before it ended so we were able to claim our car from the valet before the crowds arrived. It was wierd paying $5 to park since we get free parking from both Borgata and Harrahs. However, it was a really good day with lots of perks and some extra money won.
