The occasion was my best friend L's Birthday, we could only get a room at Showboat for $139.00 after checking our offers at Harrahs.com for 3 weeks, we are both platinum and could have Sun-Thurs comped but the weekend rates are ridiculous.
We headed out after work around 5, the parkway by us (exit 82) is crazy busy, bumper to bumper until you get to exit 74 then it was smooth sailing. I always get off at exit 40 and take route 30 in. Well you know when you get to the part where you can see the casinos. Where they tore down the overpass that use to say Welcome to Atlantic City, the lanes narrow and as I watched the car in front of me swerve left and almost hit the car in the left lane I realized too late why. "Oh My God" a turtle in the road. Yup I hit it with a sickening crunch. I was really sad, but L assured me there was nothing I could've done to avoid it. I felt so bad, poor turtle.
We arrive around 6:30 no line to check in and were given room 554 in the new (Orleans) tower, I like these room they are spacious and clean and we have a perfect view of the new Revel casino . They already have some walls up. We change to our casino attire and check out the carousel room $1quick hits.( L won four jackpots on these last time we were together) I see someone that looks really familiar so I stand and stare she turns and I say Hi Kathy (sandetoze) She remembers me and we chat for a bit. She tells me she is no longer 7 stars and she misses the perks. She was going to the steely dan concert at the Borgata and I said I would look for her later..
(I never did find her) Good to see her though she looked fantastic.
We headed to the Taj buffet because I had a lot of comps when I traded my diamond card to their chairman card last spring (before I was no longer diamond) They had no line ($21pp) and I think the food is pretty good. They had a grill for steaks and a lot of seafood, crab, legs, shrimp, fried scallops ect. and all the usual buffet food some Chinese and Italian. Their chocolate mousse is my favorite dessert along with the standard cakes and little pastries.
Downstairs to gamble. We always star out playing slots together, we checked out Sultan's palace and played around with some $5 slots. We are not that brave so we each put in $50 and when we double it we cash out.
There were two hand pays while we were in there one on a red white and black for $4000 and another on double diamond for $2500. we broke even and L went to her 3 and 4 card poker tables. I play cards for a bit but I prefer the slots, I played my favorite double diamond .50 and $1 wheel of fortune no big wins or losses I was pretty much staying even.
L wasn't doing much every time I came to check on her, so around 10pm we headed back to Showboat. We went back to the carousel room and stalked the $1 quick hits. People were just not moving off of them, they were always full and quite a lot of them were hitting the progressives. We finally got on one and team fed it awhile but it was not to be. L went back to her 3 and 4 card poker games (limits were only $10) I sat on the penny cash express penguin pays for the next two hours. I tripled my initial $20 but only got the train bonus once or twice winning the minor jackpot both times.aroun $10 or $11 each time. Showboat slots are really tight.
At midnight I went to L's card table and wished her Happy Birthday (her Birthday was the 28th) and we had a drink and the whole table joined in wishing her Happy Birthday. I eventually wandered away playing various slots but then fatigue set in and I told L I was going up , it was around 2am. L came up at 4:30.
The next morning we woke around 9:30 and ordered room service it took around an hour but it was very good
We had French toast, bacon omelet, bagels, hash browns and frappuchino. L showered and dressed first and when I went to blow dry my hair the blow-dryer caught on fire Literally there were flames shooting out the front. I had enough sense to unplug it and L went out in the hall to tell house keeping they told us to report it to security. It was now around 11:45 and we had to check out. We called security they didn't seem too concerned.
When we tried to check out over the tv it went off. So we went down to the front desk and asked for a manager we explained what happened and how when we reported it security didn't really respond. After a half hour the Head of security comes over and we tell our story again,He finds out who took our phone call and the guy tells the head of security that he thought we just wanted a new blow dryer which he sent to the room. Unbelievable!
Anyway they sent an electrician to the room ,apologized to us, thanked us for reporting it and gave us a comped room for our next visit.
We headed to Borgata and I went right to the cash express looking for CJ( around 1:30) having never met them I thought I spotted two guys standing waiting for a machine that could have been them but I wasn't sure. So CJ if you were there and saw a short girl with bad blond hair staring at you that was me.(lol) Anyway I proceeded to my favorite stinkin rich and played for two hours up and down up and down, My biggest hit was $200 on a 50 wheel of fortune and $150 on .50 quick hits by the living room.. The $5 and dollar slots by the living room in the smoking section were hot! I saw a lot of hand pays in a short time. Around 5pm I went and found L on the $15 4 card poker table she had many green chips and was ready to go. She pushed her chips forward and said color out. The dealer slid her 3 purple chips and she was so excited. She was finally up for the trip and had a great Birthday! We headed for home. We are already planning our next trip.
Thanks for reading sorry so long.

Always having fun !

How about 2 fingers on the chin...
Anywho, enough of that...GREAT TRIP REPORT. I can't believe how the hair dryer caught on FIRE and security didn't seem to CARE!

we actually look a like we're related
instead of being a couple.
