Looking back, I still have some photos from the airshow visit that I have not posted.
Get up and write a trip report - you lazy player..... you!!
It is Saturday and I have been in Borgata mode all week. Something is directing me to play at Borgata, for everywhere I go, I hear Borgata or see Borgata.
My friends were calling from Borgata's poker room and telling me of their success. My host called me concerning Robin Williams and the Who.
This forum is all a buzz, with the 5x slot rewards and I still have to see the new tower!!
So as night approached, we decided to take a quick trip to AC.
First we stopped in Caesar's and swiped our cards. Hmmm, their is a reward multiplier promotion, so I pick one of the symbols and received a 10x
multiplier.
Wow!! They rarely give me more than a 2x multiplier, since I rack up points faster than you can imagine.
Dinner was in the Bally's Pearl (Chinese) restaurant. The restaurant was completely full with a small line waiting. The receptionist asked if we had a
reservation and I
handed her my card. This is one of the best benefits of 7Star, no reservations needed!!
We were quickly seated and had a delicious dinner of fried dumplings,
clams in black bean sauce and chicken with spinach. Just enough for the two of us and the bill came out to about $35.
After dinner we sat down at the nickel "hot shots" slots. D was getting so many of the top level bonuses, but not the progressives. We came to
realize that you needed
to bet Max to get the progressive bonus chance. Max on this machine is 45 nickels ($2.25) instead of the 15 nickels that we were playing.
I decided to play "max" and recevied many "hot shot" bonus rounds. Unfortunately, many of them gave me absolutely nothing!!!!!
I continued playing the machine determined to either double my stake of $100, or lose it all!!
After hitting 5-7's, and a number of other decent bonuses, I was quickly up to $250. These machines pay well at Max, but it comes in quick hits, then it
proceeds to take it all back.
When the credits reached $200, I cashed out and walked off happy. Anytime I win on a slot machine, its got to be a good day!!
Time was flying and I have to make a quick decision on whether to obtain a room and whether we should venture over to Borgata.
The 5x promotion at Borgata, does not include table play, so the 10x promotion at Caesars was preferable. Add to that the fact that I just won (regardless of
the amount) and
that Caesars has the best table odds in all of AC. I guess the decision is easy, play Caesars....
D is playing Bally's and I wander over to Caesars. There is a good crowd at the blackjack tables this evening as I start my search for a table that will
just give me the money!!
Starting in the pit, I quickly pull positive and run through a couple of shoes and break even. The table next to me had 3 men playing purple and orange chips.
The 3 men were obviously
together as they commented about the hands. Player1 was playing $500/hand and had about 3K left. Player2 put up his last pumpkin. Player 3 was playing 2K and
had 4K left.
I know how it feels to struggle with your last chips, so they caught my eye as they prepared for the inevitable. I was even and did not want to see the
outcome, so I went onto the floor.
Selecting my 2nd table, I quickly became positive again and started vacuming the chips from the rack. But, as I placed my high bet of the day, the dealer
quickly swept it away with a blackjack!!
Now that is really bad timing!!!
My positive bankroll has been cut deep, so I have to grind it out again and build it back up. This took over an hour and I was back up to "pressing"
time
.
I start pressing the bet and I am again vacuming the chips, but on my new high bet of the day I get 2 aces against a 7. Split I must, as all blackjack
afficionados will tell you, it is a 'must' play.
My 2 cards were a 9 and a 2. Hmmmm, the 9 can be called "nice", the 2 is a completely different word.
The dealer drawing to 21, just makes me crazy. I leave the table even again. Never stay on a table where you keep losing your biggest hands
Back to the pit I go, with the resolution that I will stop next time I am positive. The only question is "how positive"?
The 3 player table has undergone some interesting changes. Player 2 is out, but Player 1 now has 12K and Player 3 has over 30K.
Excellent !!!
I go back to my first table in the pit and start the grind. I have decided to play more conservatively and grind it out, which usually works.
After a couple of shoes, I have 12 columns of chips formed into a wall in front of my position. Too bad they were not pumpkins or greys!!!!!!
A 3rd player joins the table between me and a lady at the end. As the cards come out, he seems oddly nervous and fumbles into his pocket to pull out a
blackjack strategy card!!! ![]()
OMG!!! Why would a new blackjack player with a bankroll of $300, sit at a $100-25,000 table and play a $100 chip, when he doesn't know what he is doing???
He could play that chip on a $5-500 table.
The lady and I just stared at each other as he made his play. His appearance, seemed not to change our winning run, but he was quickly down to his last chip.
I pressed my bet up and to my dismay, I received 13 against a dealer 6. Not too bad, but I would rather have a 20 or something!!
Waving my hand, I indicated that I would stay. The new player started his motion to hit his hand, which was also a 13.
This is a big no-no, but now I have the delimma of interfering with someone else's hand and not minding my own buisness.
I stopped the dealer before he drew the card and subtlely exclaimed, " You have a card in your pocket, it is perfectly fine for you to use it. That is why
you have it
here. So why don't you use it, like now!. Or you might want to ask others, if you are unsure of the correct odds. In fact, other people have 13 and have
stayed on this hand."
The player looks at his card and changes his mind to stay. The lady at the end is now standing and looks really agitated. The dealer pulls the ten and we all
celebrate!!
The dealer is laughing out loud and says to me, "oh yeah , that was real subtle!!!" At whcih point the pit boss joins in the laughter.
I ask the dealer to always do a double check if a play is not normal and he agrees.
After the shoe ended, I decided that I am up enough and must leave, this player scares me.....
D and I meet and she informs me that she lost a bit on blackjack, but won it back plus on the "hot shots" machine playing max!!
Cool!!! So, D and I run over to the diamond slot area, where I previously won 3 quickhit progressives in one sitting. This was very nice, since they were all
just under the W2 line.
Running through the machines, I could not get any substantial win, not even on my favorite monte carlo slots. I guess it was not a night for "quick
hits".
I walk back through the pit to cash out and noticed the 3 players. They are learning a very hard lesson, there is a time to walk off the table.
Player 1 was out, player 2 was out and player 3 was again down to 4K.
Sometimes looking for quick hits can get you in trouble. The slow grind may not work all of the time, but it is indeed safer.
Best of Luck

but some player's get what they deserve. If
they are a pain, they will be dealt with as a pain.

Always having fun !
