As always, we were excited about this trip since it was only the core 3 girls. The last few trips there were daughters, cousins and aunts
that came along, kind of crimping our gambling style but made the trips enjoyable just the same.
We left after work on Wednesday at 7pm and made great time, arrived around 9:30-m, not bad for the LI treck. . We were put in a really nice renovated suite
on the 14th floor. I've had many suites that still had the jungle theme and kind of reminded me of a one of those hourly rate motels, not that I would
know what they look like!. The suite had a king sized bedroom with a couch that pulled out and the other room had a couch, chairs, a dining room, wet bar and
a murphy bed that Maria's mom stayed in that room. I can't say anything bad about the accomadations. We usually go to AC on Thrusday mornings and
leave by noon on Friday, we always feel like we need to get our gambling time in so we are up almost 24 hours and are always feel really rushed.
After dropping off our bacgs, went down to play and it was a losing battle. We played tables for a while then went onto machines. Still tight as you know
what. We got discouraged and when up to the room around 3am. Tomorrow's another day.
Didn't have to get up early since we had the whole day and night ahead of us got up around 7 anyway, there was a casino downstairs how could we sleep? We
went down to play LIR for a bit before we went to the Borgata where Maria's mom had 11 am reservations for Bingo. We took a beating the night befor so we
started at a $5 table. Maria's mom usually is a black jack player and NEVER plays the $1 bonus, she thinks it's a sucker bet but she was getting good
cards. She missed out on the bonus for a straight and 3 of a kind, so she put the $1 up for the next few hands. Wouldn't you know it, she hit 4 of a kind!
That bonus dollar paid her $400! She's singing a new tune now and even gave Maria and I a hundred each. I said you have enough left over for another 200
bonus bets! We left abount 9:30 and of cource again we missed the turn and had to go into Brigatine and turn around. I'm starting to think I have a
mental block about getting to that place. I usually have a grat sense of direction, I don't know what it is! Again, nothing to write home about for me,
down maybe a few hundred but Maria left about $400 up. We had a great lunch at the Metropolitan and we then decided to go over to Trump Marina since we
haven't been there in about 3 years. We played some machines, which let us play a little and then sat at a LIR table. I hit for a full house ($10) table
so I broke even for the day.
Back to the Taj for a late afternoon snooze and to relax, play a little then to meet for dinner at 8pm. Had a really good dinner at Plate, soup, steamed clams
in a tomato fennel broth and a salad. Maria and her mom shared the Market salad and a grilled cheddar and tomato sandwich. I must say the food at Plate had
really gone up in quality and I would recommed it highly. (This is even after the fiasco my son had at Burger last year) This time the service was excellent
and our waiter was really good.
Went to the Sulltan's Palace and played the Let it RidePoker machine while Maria played "Pick-em Poker" We played with our original $20 for
about an hour and a half, our eyes were going blurry so we sat a a table for a while. The guy next to us hit 3 of a kind with $100 up on each spot, he gave
each of us $50, which was very nice of him. I felt a little uncomfortable and graciously declined the offer since I have my own money and wouldn't be
sitting at the table if I couldn't lose what I was playing with (not that I said that to him) but he was really such a nice guy and we were having fun.
The way he put it was if Maria and I weren't playing at the table he would have left a long time ago since the dealer was a bit of a dud and there were no
others playing at the table. Well when he put it that way, we accepted and low and behold, our cards started picking up. I guess it was lucky money. We went
up to bed around 3am again got up and played for about an hour and were on the road by 10:30 am. We found if we leave any later we hit a lot of traffic and it
takes us double the time to get home. Leaving after work Wednesday really made a difference, we kind of felt like we were on vacation, instead of being on a
merry go round!.
We had a great trip, Maria's mom came home a winner and Maria and I came home with a few hundred (no ATM needed this trip!!) of our bankroll, not a
windfall but enough to put in the kitty for our next trip which is always nice., probably after the holidays. I find out next week if they are going to lay my
division off so my trips to AC might have to be a cut back for a while.
